I spent THREE (!) hours today working on stripping the tile and wallpaper off the house. Some of it is stubborn and if scoring, soaking, and scraping doesn't work I may have to just sand it to an acceptable point and cover it. Big thanks to James for letting me borrow their heat gun. Folks in the dollhouse group were divided on what to use, but ultimately I'm glad I used the heat gun because even with it the tile was stubborn. There's still splinters of wood and glue everywhere, but I'm not risking it from here out. It'll just have to get sanded. I did end up removing the wainscoting and the doorways and baseboards but I'm keeping them and will fix them up and reuse them if possible.
I've decided on this wallpaper/flooring for the kitchen and I've been goofing around on a site called Cooler wrt color palates for the inside and outside. Thoughts? No idea how I want to approach that. I like the greens and creams for the staircases though I may just go with a wood color. I dunno man.
I'd love if the original owner or her daughter would pick a wallpaper for one of the rooms! Her daughter declined but the offer stands since it'll be 2067 by the time I get to that point.
I noticed the original owner has spaces marked for lighting. Fritz says he'll help with that aspect. It overwhelms me to think of but I also think it would be pretty to have lighting. This is very like me: I have no idea what I'm doing so obviously I'm going to attempt expert level nonsense.
I'm going to order the wallpaper and floor soon. I believe both are downloads, so I can just print them on cardstock here. The next few days it's gonna be hot but I'm determined to work on this a little each day. Eventually I'll move my workspace into the garage. For now it's the backyard.
Bonus Beanie pic!
